Education: Little Oaks Primary School
Little Oaks Primary School is undertaking a complete rebranding initiative to reflect our evolving educational philosophy and community role. Established in 1998, the school has recently transitioned from traditional teaching models to a holistic, student-led inquiry curriculum. We require a fresh, modern visual identity that captures this vibrant learning environment while remaining deeply rooted in our nurturing community ethos.
Brand objectives
Modernise the image: Move away from the generic, rigid academic crests of the past toward an approachable, dynamic, and forward-thinking visual system
Increase engagement: Create an identity that instills pride in current students and staff, while remaining highly appealing to prospective families
Unify touch points: Develop a cohesive design ecosystem that functions seamlessly across physical signage, digital platforms, uniforms, and school merchandise
Target audience
Prospective and current parents: Articulate, community-minded individuals (primarily aged 25–45) seeking an inclusive, high-quality, and emotionally supportive education for their children
Students (ages 4–11): The ultimate consumers of the brand. The identity must feel safe, exciting, inspiring, and accessible to young children
Staff and community partners: Local residents, educators, and local businesses who view the school as a community hub
Brand personality and core values
The new design must balance professional academic credibility with a warm, welcoming energy.
Nurturing: A safe, supportive environment where every child is seen and valued
Curious: Fostering a lifelong love for exploration, questioning, and discovery
Inclusive: Celebrating diverse backgrounds, abilities, and ideas
Sustainable: Rooted in our connection to nature and environmental stewardship
Design Deliverables
The selected agency or designer will be expected to deliver a comprehensive brand package including:
Primary Logo & Secondary Assets: A scalable primary logo, a simplified icon/monogram for smaller applications (like social media avatars), and a dedicated student-facing variant
Color Palette: A vibrant yet sophisticated color scheme. It should avoid overly clinical primary colors in favor of warmer, nature-inspired tones that reflect our "Oaks" heritage
Typography System: Accessible, highly readable font pairings. A friendly, clean sans-serif for headlines and a clear, highly legible typeface suitable for young readers and official documentation alike
Brand Style Guide: A concise document outlining clear rules for logo usage, clear space, typographic hierarchy, and incorrect applications
Application and touch points
The final visual identity must be optimized for diverse environments:
Digital: Responsive website interface, email newsletters, and social media templates
Physical: Main campus entrance signage and interior wall graphics
Apparel: School uniforms (polos, sweaters) and sports kits requiring durable, clear embroidery or print reproduction
Project timeline
Concept exploration (3 Weeks): Mood boards and a distinct creative direction
Refinement (2 Weeks): Fine-tuning of the identity
Asset delivery (2 Weeks): Asset pack handover
This timeline is a rough guide based on the projects we have previously completed for clients. We have included it as a guide to illustrate the demands of commercial design but we don’t expect you to religiously follow this.
Success metric
The final brand identity must feel modern, relatable and dynamic. Picture it on the teams kit and how it engages with people on social media.
