How to Write a Design CV Recruiters Actually Read

A design CV needs to work as both a document and, in a way, a small piece of design work itself — without becoming over-designed.

Keep the structure simple and scannable

Name, contact, a one-line summary of what you do, then experience and education. Recruiters skim in seconds — don't make them hunt.

Cut anything that doesn't support your case

Every line should answer "why does this make me a good hire," not just "what have I done." Trim tasks that don't relate to the role you're applying for.

Put your portfolio link where it can't be missed

Top of the page, clearly labeled — not buried in a footer or only in your cover email.

Don't let the design outshine the content

A CV that's beautifully designed but hard to read fast fails its actual job. Clarity beats cleverness here.
